Artificial Intelligence and Legal Liability: Rising Concerns

By Virender Negi, Professor, UILS, Panjab University, Chandigarh & Prachi Sharma, Research Scholar, Department of Law, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Abstract

The fast growth of AI technologies [1] has made the legal liability field much more complicated. As AI systems gain more independence, people start to wonder who is responsible for what they do, especially when they hurt someone or break the law. This research study investigates the changing relationship between AI and legal accountability, looking at important problems including who is to blame, if current laws are good enough, and the moral consequences of decisions made by AI. The report examines case studies, legislative provisions, and academic viewpoints to pinpoint deficiencies in existing legal frameworks and suggests possible remedies to mitigate the growing apprehensions over AI liability. The conversation stresses how important it is to have flexible legal systems that can keep up with new technologies while still holding people accountable. [2] [5]
